I decided to make a list of things I wish I knew when I started photography.

Feel free to share, like and comment.

  1. It's a expensive hobby or trade. Try to avoid getting into debt.

  2. Start off with a less expensive camera and spend more money on your lens.

  3. Purchase insurance for your gear.

  4. Expensive camera does not make a great photographer. Like Jordan's does not make great Basketball players.

  5. Purchase insurance for your gear.

  6. Learn your Camera inside and out. Read every page of your Camera manual.

  7. Learn how to move to Manual mode and get out of Auto Mode.

  8. Learn the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture.

  9. Get it right in the camera and use Gimp, Paintshop and Photoshop less. Slow down and think about your composition, location and subject.

  10. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Make mistakes and learn from them. The pros make mistakes but they don't show it.

  11. Purchase a External Hard drive to backup your photos. In 2007 I lost all of my photos when my Computer Hard Drive died.

  12. Find a mentor and don't expect then to teach you everything.

  13. Try to shoot something every week

  14. Don't expect everyone to like your work. I use to try to take photos for everyone.

  15. Look at people work that inspire you

  16. Avoid adding big ugly watermark and vignette to every photos.

  17. Always keep learning

If you're in Eastern North Carolina, Book your shoot with me today and start your portfoliorenaldocreative.com/contact

SAFETY

Discuss bringing an Escort to the Photo Shoot with your Photographer or Avoid bringing escort to your Photo Shoot. When models bring a escort I normally put the escort to work. Only work with photographer you trust. Ask for reference or testimonies. Escorts can get in the way and destroy the photo shoot. Also don't assume that a female Photographer is safer to work with than a male Photographer. Ask for reference or testimonies from female photographer. Male photographer got a bad rep from GWC Guy with Cameras. Normally fake photographer that don't care about Photography. Call the photographer before the shoot or meet in person. Keep in touch with the photographer and a family member. Until you get home safe.

I hear a lot of people complain about photographers charging too much. So I decided to write this post about why Wedding Photographers charge so much.

  • Equipment use for weddings is expensive.
  • Flash cost close to $600.00 www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consume…
  • Camera cost $900.00-$10,000.00 www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consume…
  • Lens Cost $500.00-1,000.00 www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consume…
  • Accessories $30.00-$200.00
  • Studio Strobes $500.00-2,000.00 www.paulcbuff.com/e640.php
  • Photographers spend days, month and hours preparing for your shoot or wedding
  • A Few hours spent capturing your images or wedding
  • Photography Equipment is heavy and can lead to back problems in the future.
  • 1-2 Week Editing the Photos.
  • 3 Hours Creating the Albums and Printing.
  • 30 Minutes shipping of various Product.
  • 2 Hour preparing the Images for customer to view.
  • Photographs last a lifetime, Photographs help your remember your special day, Wedding Dress, Wedding Cake, etc.
  • Sure there Photographer that may charge less. Each Photographer have the right to charge what he/she feel there work is worth.
  • When you book a Photographer you're paying for the images, knowledge, products, and the photographers time.

Fellow Photographer feel free to add on to this list.
